Resident Evil 6 [PS3] - My Thoughts

Post by Link on Thu Apr 11, 2013 5:28 pm

Resident Evil 6
This game is the true evolution of Resident Evil. Yes, gone are
the traditions of survival horror and scare, but the genre itself has
been dead since...what, 2003? Naturally, Capcom shifts the focus to
action, and the action presented is done exceedingly well. The best
campaign to most is definitely Leon's, and for good reason: the pacing
is well done, the settings (mostly cemetery and a crypt-like area) are
unnerving and constantly placing you on edge, and the characters
although short-lived are still brought out to good potential.

The entire game is written in such a manner that requires playing
through the previous games - RE1, RE2, RECVX, RE4, and RE5 - so you can
truly appreciate what happens in each campaign. This is perfect, because
RE6 is a representation of moving the series forward sales-wise and of
taking the story to familiar yet still fresh heights.

Still, people cite finicky controls, that they feel "floaty". I don't
know if that's just for the 360 version, but the PS3 version feels as
tight as ever. Sure, the camera can act up at times, but that actually
brings a sense of realism to the game - you cannot react to an enemy in a
split second or see directly behind you upon turning around.
Holding the sprint button also refocuses the camera, and pressing sprint
is something players *should* be doing at many times. :I
